About Peace and Play

Patty Hollander Biography

Patty Hollander has been dedicated and devoted to helping others for her entire adult life. She has been a student mentor at the Los Angeles High School of the Arts. She is the founder and facilitator of the “Abundance Seminar,” a seminar held on New Year’s Day that helps facilitate personal growth, focus and insight for the New Year. Patty founded “Sip It Live,” a non-profit pop-up set up to give beverages to the underserved community in Boyle Heights, California. Patty has learned modalities and self-help techniques from educators and psychological leaders from around the world. Patty has been to 33 countries and has gained cognitive and self-help knowledge from the experts in such countries as Peru, Bali and India. Patty acquired her life coaching certification, has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Southern California and a Master of Science degree from National University in Educational Counseling. She has a California Pupil Personnel Services credential from the state of California, and has worked in various schools, including Millikan High School and Crete Academy in Los Angeles. In her free time, she likes to dance, read and travel.



LESSON PLAN

Individual Counseling Session

Lesson Segments and timed breakdowns:

0:00-3:00 Introduction, ask how the client is. Ask how the client is feeling.

3:00-7:00 Warm up. Deep breath in and out with hands up. Physical activity of clients choosing.

7:00-15:00 Intake session with client. What is your favorite thing to do? Who do you admire? What do you want to do when you grow up? Encourage client that all things are possible and that the client can do anything he/she wants to do. Give client positive encouragement about what was said.

15:00-25:00 Goal setting. “I’m here to help you with your school and anything else you want. How do you feel about your schoolwork? Is there something that happens in your week that makes schoolwork hard for you? What are your goals for the upcoming week? (Give client positive affirmations depending on what was said).

25:00-35:00 Guided meditation

35:00-40:00 One minute client does favorite thing, wrap up.



LESSON PLAN

Group Counseling Session

Lesson Segments and timed breakdowns:

0:00-5:00 Introduction, ask how everyone is. Ask how everyone is feeling.

5:00-8:00 Warm up. Deep breath in and out with hands up. Physical activity of clients choosing.

8:00-21:00 Goal setting. Ask the students, one by one, how they are and what they have done for the week. Ask the student what they are working on for the week, and ask the group to give them a “power assist” where everyone says, “I now see this happening for you easily, peacefully, joyfully and effortlessly.”

 21:00-28:00 We now play “hot potato.” The students take a piece of paper and ball it up. The first student says a positive affirmation about himself (something that the kindest person you know would say about you, something that you need to hear for the week). The first student says this and then “passes” the ball to another student of my choosing. This is done so everyone has a turn.

 28:00-35:00 Guided meditation

35:00-40:00 One minute clients do their favorite thing, wrap up.
